ABOUT FIJI SNORKELLING
Fiji is renowned for its vivid marine life and picturesque coral structures. There are over 1000 coral reef systems around the archipelago which delight lovers of the underwater world every day. With 333 islands encircled with turquoise waters Fiji's marine world boasts manta rays, sharks, coral cities in vibrant colours and over 1000 species of marine fish busy with their daily life.
The Manamuca Islands - comprised of 20 or so white sand islands encircled by gentle lapping turquoise waters are host to the majority of Fiji's popular tourist resorts. There are an assortment of hard corals, schools of fish, plenty of clown anemone fish, the ocassional turtle and reef shark. The majority of these resorts are easily accessed by a 30 to 90 minute boat ride or scenic flight.
The Yasawa Islands offer a more remote experience, perfect for those looking to snorkel in more untouched environments. There is a daily 'flyer service' making it easy to island hop to a variety of beautiful islands. There are manta rays, large fish schools, reef sharks and much more to see
The Outer Islands of Fiji - Taveuni, Kadavu and Savusavu offer spectacular snorkelling and free diving on world famous reef systems such as Namena Reserve and Rainbow Reef. The Islands are off the beaten track - expect barracuda schools, turtles, soft corals, manta rays and dolphins.

Checklist
Bring your own .. Resort snorkels, masks and fins are always decent, however they may not fit your face or feet so it is recommended to pop in to a dive shop and test a few to find a snug and comfortable fit, it makes the trip so much better.
TIP – a little toothpast on your mask is excellent at helping fogging problems
Likewise a snorkeling rash suit will protect from sun as well as small stingers which can present a discomfort at certain times of year these are available in many types, short or long. Most popular for fiji is longsleve top with shorts, however that can leave you with sunburn on the back of you legs, rash pants are superior for sun protection. Winter or those who feel the cold may prefer a Thermocline suit these have neutral buoyancy and are suited to snorkelling.
Reef safe sunscreen . Hawaii and Palau have banned sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate as they have shown to be harmful to corals. Please use a reef safe sunscreen
